“Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth. Walk in the ways of your heart and the sight of your eyes. But know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.” Ecclesiastes 11:9
It is God’s good and holy will, young man, that you not live as though the divine hammer is about to fall, so there’s no point in even trying at life. If you are in Christ, the hammer fell on him at the cross 2000 years ago. You are under the smile of God, his lavish goodness in both creation and redemption, freeing you from all life-negating fears. Now in your youth, right now today, the opportunity of life is dawning before you by the grace of God. Go for it.
Just spend your youth wisely. Think. Pray. Pay attention. You will give an account to the One who is giving it all to you — “judgment” not as condemnation but evaluation (Ecclesiastes 12:14).
